Vivienne You picked romance? Good. I had something softer planned — but your version is better.

02The detail
Why genre control changes the scene
The genre is not decoration — it is the frame that keeps every line landing in the same register.
Most AI chat starts from a blank prompt and hopes for the best. AI scene roleplay here starts from a genre you name — noir, romance, comedy, thriller, slow burn — and the character commits to that register from the first line. The difference shows up immediately: her word choices, her pacing, even her silences shift to match.
That frame is what gives the scene a shape instead of a wandering exchange. You can change it mid-conversation and watch the tone pivot within one reply. The same character in romance and in noir is recognisably the same person, but the scene feels entirely different — which is the whole point of genre.
The trade-off is the same one real actors face: a character with a genre is opinionated, and sometimes she will push back against a direction that breaks the register. That friction is deliberate — it keeps the scene from collapsing into a list of compliant answers.

A few characters ready for a scene
Different ranges, different registers — the genre you pick shapes what each one does with the role.

Reads romance as tension, not sweetness. Leans in slowly.

Comfortable in drama — the pauses are half the performance.

Quick with improv. Give her a genre and she owns it in two lines.
04In practice
What directing a scene actually looks like
You open the cast, pick a character, and name a genre — that is it. She delivers her opening line in that register, you respond with a direction or a line of your own, and the scene builds from there.
Because the scene memory carries between sessions, you can close the tab and come back hours later. She remembers the setting, the tone, and where you left off — no recap needed.
